Why are Delica beads so special? Why are they so expensive? Delica beads are very uniform and precise in size. They fit together perfectly and are excellent beads for brickstitch and other woven patterns. They have very thin walls and larger holes than
most seed beads, so they allow for multiple passes with thread, making them very versitle. Many bead artists only use Miyuki beads because the quality is so reliable. WARNING - these beads are addictive!
What do the sizes 11/0, 8/0 etc mean when referring to Delica beads? Here is a table to help you determine the best size beads for your project.

What is the most popular size? While there are four sizes of Delicas, the 11/0 size is by far the most popular. There are over 900 colors, so you are sure to find the exact color you need for your project.
I am new to beading. What is the best size for me to start with? Size 10/0 is a rather new size that Miyuki developed especially for new beaders. There are 260 colors and the larger size of the 10/0 Delicas makes them easier to see and easier for beginners to manipulate.
What do all the finishes mean? Aside from the precise size of Delicas, they also come in many finishes which adds to their versitility. At the bottom of each listing is a reference table showing the many different types of finishes. For example TSL is transparent silver lined. MA is matte. You can create a piece in all matte beads, or mix and match the finishes to add texture and interest to your piece.
What are Rocailles? How are they different from Delicas? Coming from Miyuki, Rocailles are round seed beads with the same consistent size quality of Delicas, but just round. The walls are not thin like Delicas, but rather rounded like a pea. These beads are excellent for French beaded flowers and many designs incorporate Rocailles with Delicas. You can also use Rocialles on a loom or off loom for weaving.
Is there a color chart I can use to help pick the right colors I'm looking for? Yes - Miyuki now has an electronic version of their bead cards - pretty cool!
